Personified Object
For this assignment we were instructed to design a character out of an object. We had a few criteria, it would have to capture the personality and provide the shape language of the object as a part of the character. For this assignment, I decided to personify the planet Saturn, since I thought it would be an interesting challenge to model.

Concept Art
I had two original designs, and I was torn between personifying a clarinet, and the planet Saturn. I felt like Saturn would be the more obvious choice, albeit the clarinet could give me more room for creativity.
My reason for this choice was the desire to work with a bubbly, round shape language, and my plethora of ideas for her design.
The final concept art uses a lot of repeating colors, and I specifically wanted to use a lot of gold- I was inspired off of gold bangles, specifically, to signify the rings of Saturn, and reflect that onto a human person.

I textured this model in Substance Painter, and UV mapped her in ZBrush. One thing I wish I did was be a little bit closer to the original model- having more accurate colors, more embellishments, etc. (But this is something I can always go back and fix).
I'm really happy with how the texturing on her dress came out. I wanted to give it a hand-painted look (at least on the dress) and I didn't want it to just look like "random lines" (like on the concept art).
